Introduction to Metal Stamping

Jun 10, 2026 Leave a message

Metal stamping is a cold forming process that uses a stamping machine to force metal sheets into shape within a mold. This process is mainly used in industrial sectors such as automotive parts and home appliances, as well as in precision components for electronic products, medical devices, and aerospace parts. It features fast single-piece forming (1 second to 1 minute), high surface precision, automation, high accuracy, and high efficiency, making it suitable for mass production.

Its cost structure is characterized by high mold costs but relatively low unit costs. Material applicability covers a variety of metal sheets, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum-magnesium alloys. Material technology continues to advance; for example, the full-strength series of high-toughness aluminum-silicon coated hot stamping steel technology has achieved a breakthrough over foreign monopolies. In the automotive manufacturing sector, approximately 60%-70% of metal parts require stamping, with an average of about 1500 stamped parts per vehicle. In 2022, the market size of metal stamping parts for passenger vehicles in China was approximately RMB 234.071 billion, and it is projected to increase to approximately RMB 251.767 billion by 2025. The industry is developing towards intelligentization, automation, lightweighting, and environmental sustainability.
